Belagavi, Mar 26: The Belagavi police lathicharged a group of people, who went to offer prayers at a mosque, despite strict guidelines against doing the same.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi had announced nationwide lockdown with an intention to contain the spread of COVID-19 up to April 14. Temple, church and mosque managements across the state extended their support, keeping health of people in mind. They have closed down the religious places.

However, on Thursday, March 26, a group of people in Belagavi did not adhere to the guidelines. They gathered at a mosque and offered prayers. The police resorted to lathicharge to disperse the crowd.

    The PM had pleaded on Wed with folded hands for everyone to stay indoors for the next 3 weeks. But these guys here have been pampered with all the leniency in the previous regime. So thought they could get away with anything. Anyways good move by the cops. No one should be spared.

    Crux: when one's own self is in danger, no religious rights, human rights, fundamental rights, freedom of speech, human dignity, freedom of expression, etc matter.

    Yogi get away easily from having Danda during religious ceremony in Ayodhya on Wednesday and well educated Christian priest in kerala also luckily get away from having Danda but later booked when he led a funeral prayer service where more than 100 people took part

    I wonder how you can explain to people about the seriousness of large gathering at this time. Stop everything. Pooja, namaz, mass, wedding, birthday, anniversary of all kinds. Stop and pray from your home with your heart, if you have walked according to God's will so far in your life, God surely will listen to your prayers.

    Many a times police also violating their own rules. Book the head of the mosque committee who call for congressional prayer instead beating the innocents. There are plenty of police brutality getting viral on social media since lockdown .

    The Indian Police must understand that coronavirus cannot be beaten with a lathi.

    A female post graduate doctor was slapped by Telangana police ACP yesterday while she was attending night duty, she was abused saying "with whom are you going to sleep at this time?"

    A 32-year-old man in west Bengal died Wednesday after allegedly being beaten up by the police for stepping out of his residence to buy milk, yet another example of how police across the country are using extreme force to punish people who break the lockdown rules.

    I never blame all the police force if you can see my first post. But I do complain a bit the way sometime they handle the situation. Police squad on duty in my location are very kind and polite.. Seems they trained well and enough educated to tackle the violators. ..
    BTW Police also blame during Delhi riots, JNU and Jamia Millia incidents. You cant deny it.

    The Imam of the Mosque should be booked. It was his responsibility to ask the faithful to disperse. In the church the priest asked all the faithfuls to leave the premises immediately as per govt instructions. A single priest did his obligation and live telecast. In extreem situation even God will accept the prayers of the faithful from anywhere. The police did the right thing.

    The police have done the right thing.
    They do not understand the principles of Islam when in different circumstances. Blind belief is not allowed in Islam. One needs to read Quran and understand it to be a better Muslim.
    Inspire of Muslim religious scholars giving fatwa to pray at home, these people are still not following rules of the land.

    PM with folded hands requested to cooperate and avoid gathering in Mosque, Churches, Temples. Mecca, Vatican are closed . Its look like people deliberately testing the law and order. now they know the answer.
