Bengaluru, Mar 24: State home minister Basavaraj Bommai, has sounded a warning to people who have been advised home quarantine, of legal action if they violate the quarantine conditions. "The violators face minimum six months of imprisonment as per section 271 of Indian Penal Code," he said.
Speaking at a press meet held here on Monday, March 23, the minister said that the government has not been leaving any stone unturned in its campaign to stop coronavirus in its tracks. "Those who transgress government rules will face strict action. The home department, with the help of local administrations, has been making efforts to track all people who are prescribed home quarantine. We have come across some cases in which these people are found moving about outside their houses. To enable them, their family members and the neighbours to get proper information, notices will be pasted to the
doors of people undergoing quarantine," he said.

"We have decided to continue with section 144 in nine districts where lockdown has been declared till March 31. We will make it mandatory for officials to visit people who are home-quarantined twice every day, and police patrolling for their houses," he stated. The minister also said that district deputy commissioners have been given strict instructions to see that no shops and establishments which do not fall under essential services are opened during the lockdown period.
