Bengaluru, Mar 23: With the number of coronavirus cases on the rise, the state government on Monday, March 23, announced a complete lockdown of the state from March 24 till March 31.
Chief minister B S Yediyurappa, acting on the advice of the doctors and health specialists, announced the complete lockdown of the state till March 31. The state recorded seven cases on Monday and total 33 cases since the outbreak of the disease.
During the lockdown, barring essential services like medical shops, provision stores, milk parlours and petrol pumps, all other commercial activities will be shut. The government has also clamped prohibitory orders to prevent more than five people gathering in public places.

Bengaluru, Mar 23: The government of Karnataka has taken stringent measures to control the fast-spreading pandemic of coronavirus. According to the notification of the union government, already nine districts of the state are locked down from Monday, March 23 itself. However, as the situation is not coming under control, it is said that the government wants to go a step ahead and lock down the whole state from March 24.
A decision to this effect is taken in the meeting that was held under the leadership of chief minister B S Yediyurappa on Monday, March 23. The final decision will be announced in the evening of Monday, after taking the opinion of the opposition parties also.
Only important departments like health, home, revenue and forest are functioning at present in the state. As per information, it is decided to close all the other departments temporarily. The world-renowned Bengaluru Karaga festival will also not take place this time.
Already nine districts of Bengaluru Urban, Bengaluru Rural, Dakshina Kannada, Mysuru, Belagavi, Kalaburagi, Dharwad, Chikkaballapur and Kodagu of the state are under lock down from Monday, March 23 till March 31 as coronavirus infected cases are reported from these districts.
The number of infected and dead people due to the dreaded disease is increasing in the country. So far the death toll has gone up to 8. In Mumbai alone, three people have become the victim of this virus. The number of cases in Karnataka has gone up to 27 and the all India figure has touched an alarming 415.
