Udupi, Mar 19: Deputy commissioner G Jagadeesha has directed private hospitals to admit coronavirus suspects when they approach hospitals. “Isolation wards with two beds should be arranged in private hospitals also,” he said.
“Ten beds ward is arranged in district hospital, five beds in taluk hospital and ten beds ward are arranged in KMC. Hundred beds will be arranged in the new library building if necessary. Thirty beds will be arranged in the beginning. An isolation ward will be arranged in the building. Any doctors can be contacted if necessary,” he said.
“As many as 230 people have arrived in Udupi from abroad. All of them have been contacted and are asked to remain at home. Those who violate home quarantine will be severely punished. Regarding a person from Kasargod who was reported positive for the virus, thirteen people of Udupi had travelled in the fight in which he arrived. All of them have been asked to remain at home. They are in good health,” he added.
“Do not visit government office without any urgent work. It is better if you do not come to the hospital for regular check-up. Please do not come for picnic, wedding and fairs in our district. Festivals, Annadana and holy book recitation meetings should not be held,” he told sternly to the temples. “We will register cases if Yakshagana is held. Be prepared to face legal action if you violate law. Action will be taken if people are seen in tourist centre. They will be sent back from the district border if necessary,” he said.
