Mangaluru: 'State govt needs to send nodal officer to New Delhi' – MLA U T Khader

Mangaluru, Mar 18: “Government needs to send a nodal officer to New Delhi representing our state in order to coordinate with the NRIs and students who are stuck at other countries due to coronavirus outbreak,” said MLA U T Khader

Addressing media here on Wednesday, March 18, Khader further said,"If a nodal officer is sent from the state to New Delhi it will help in coordinating with Indian embassy and ministry of external affairs to deal with the students and NRIs who are stuck at other countries due to coronavirus outbreak.

"State government and district administration are taking all kind of preventive measures. We urge people to co-operate to tackle the coronavirus. There is a need for people to undergo self-quarantine for 14 days. Buses coming from northern part of the state should be stopped from entering into the district. Even the passengers coming to KSRTC bus stand need to be screened. Checking should also be done at Talapady border and at the domestic airport.

“Foundation stone laying ceremony of bridge cum barrage between Harekala Kadava and Adyar will be held on March 21. Irrigation minister Madhuswamy, district in charge minister Kota Srinivas Poojary, MP Nalin Kumar Kateel will take part in the inaugural ceremony. The construction of bridge cum barrage across Nethravathi river connecting between Harekala Kadav to Adyar , costs Rs 200 crore on turnkey basis.

“The Bridge length will be 520 meter with 1.25 meter of pathway on both sides and 7.5 meter carriage way. The bridge consists of 52 gates and metal sheet will be put up in between the gate.”
