Udupi, Jan 11: Tamil Nadu State BJP president K Annamalai shared his thoughts on the political developments in Karnataka, expressing his anticipation for the BJP’s return to power. He said, “I am eagerly waiting for the BJP to come to power in Karnataka. Congress is involved in internal politics, creating drama while masking their inner conflicts under the guise of governance. Let’s see how long this drama will last.”
Addressing concerns about internal issues within the BJP, Annamalai explained, “Our party believes in democracy and respects individual opinions. We are a cadre-centric party, focusing on our workers. We accept leadership and move forward. I am confident that in any upcoming election, the BJP will come back to power.”
Annamalai also addressed the political climate in Tamil Nadu. Reflecting on the challenges faced by the BJP, he said, “The elections are due in May 2026, and there are currently eight parties competing for just 4% of the votes. We are all working diligently to strengthen the BJP in Tamil Nadu. The prime minister has a positive image here, and the BJP is making tough decisions. We contested the local elections independently, and we are preparing for the upcoming Assembly elections.”
On the issue of his protest against the DMK government, Annamalai added, “We are confident that our efforts will yield success in 2026. I have decided not to wear footwear as a mark of protest against the DMK government. Tamil Nadu is witnessing a disturbing rise in crimes against women. Since this government came to power, incidents such as the rape at Anna University have become more frequent. Every day, the number of sexual assaults continues to rise. Women, children, and families are enduring constant atrocities. I have resolved not to wear footwear until the DMK government is removed.”
Finally, commenting on actor Vijay’s potential entry into politics, Annamalai remarked, “It is common for cinema stars to have support in Tamil Nadu. Vijay is a popular actor, currently the top star. However, politics and cinema are two separate fields. Even after a year, his party has not been able to appoint district presidents. Let’s see how this election unfolds.”
