Bengaluru, Mar 18: Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) president, D K Shivakumar, has lashed at the BJP government in the state, duly charging it of misusing power vested with it.
"We follow our own political strategies. We know how to handle situations. Digvijay Singh is not alone here. I am here to support him. I know how to extend support to him. But I do not want to break law in Karnataka," he explained.
Congress leader, Digvijay Singh, was sitting in protest demonstration near Ramada Hotel here where 21 legislators from Madhya Pradesh are staying, on Wednesday March 18 morning. Shivakumar had accompanied him in this protest. The police arrested Digvijay Singh and took him away to the police station. Digvijay Singh has now announced that he will undertake hunger strike.
Earlier in the day, Digvijay Singh had tweeted, criticising the BJP model of democratic rule. He said that under that rule, legislators cannot speak to the chief minister, and the MLAs cannot speak to their family members. He pointed out that the MLAs also are barred from speaking to the speaker, and that they cannot speak to party leaders. "MLAs can speak only in controlled condition under the watchful eyes of opposition goondas. This they call as democracy," he had ridiculed.
