Mangaluru, Mar 17: As many as 456 people have been screened in Mangaluru and no one has tested positive for coronavirus yet, said a press release from the deputy commissioner.
The statement said, “Total number of people screened is 456, the number of people under home quarantine is 241, eight people have completed their quarantine period, 14 suspects’ samples have been sent to lab for test, 10 results received from lab which are all negative and seven are admitted and are under observation.
“Everyone needs to follow government guidelines to control the spread of coronavirus. Also, all Yakshagana events in the district are to be postponed.
“All taluk level officers and staffs have been trained in order to create awareness among the public. We urge to those who come from overseas to be in home quarantine for 14 days.
“As of March 16, officials have visited 2,047 houses and given necessary information to people, and also reviewed health condition.
“The passenger from Kasargod who came on March 14 had no symptoms during the screening at the airport. But after two days, symptoms were found and he tested positive. In this regard, we have taken information from Kasargod deputy commissioner. We have contacted the passengers who travelled on same flight and urged them for home quarantine. The health officers’ team have taken measures to visit the houses of the passengers who arrived to the district in the same flight along with coronavirus infected passenger.
“As per government orders, passengers coming from UAE , Qatar, Oman, Kuwait need to compulsorily go for 14 days’ home quarantine. If required, they will be kept for 14 days under medical observation,” the statement said.
