Kundapur: Midday meal assistant cook catches fire, succumbs

Kundapur, Mar 17: Baby (38), working as assistant cook under midday meal scheme at a school in the taluk lost her life after accidentally catching fire.

Baby worked as assistant cook at the government primary school, Bidkalkatte in the taluk. When stoking fire in the hearth outside her house on the evening of March 10, her sari had accidentally caught fire. She suffered serious burn injuries in the incident.

Baby was admitted into hospitals at Koteshwar, Ajjarkad Udupi, Wenlock Hospital Mangaluru and then shifted to KMC Hospital Manipal. But her life could not be saved and she breathed her last on Monday.
