Mangaluru, Mar 15: People of the city have decided to seek the support of the Almighty to tame the pandemic coronavirus, which is a notified disaster in India.
Devotees came together at Lord Manjunatheshwara temple at Kadri here seeking His support to handle the disease. The devotees recited Dhanwantari Japa to appease the Lord. Rudra and Vishnu Sahasra Nama were also recited. Mass prayers were offered to the presiding deity of the temple under the leadership of Kannada Sahitya Parishat Dakshina Kannada district district president, Pradeep Kumar Kalkura.
Before the recital of the Lord's name, puja was offered to Lord Manjunatha Swamy. After the recital, mass prayers were offered. The recital began on at 6 am on Monday followed by mass prayers at 7.15 am..
The 'Nagar Bhajan' programme of Bhajan troupes chanting Bhajans in praise of the Lord which visit different areas in the city each day, has begun at Lord Venkataramana temple beginning from Saturday, seeking the Lord's grace to tackle the challenge faced by the country by way of coronavirus infection.
As many as 107 coronavirus cases have been reported in the country so far, and two have died. Close watch is being kept on 4,0000 people. Karnataka has several coronavirus suspects. Several states have declared lockdown till March 31.
