New Delhi, Mar 12: Speaking at the parliament session at New Delhi in Kannada, Dakshina Kannada MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, charged the congress and parties that have aligned with it, of being solely responsible for igniting trouble across the country.
Speaking on the allegation made by the opposition parties that the disturbances at New Delhi were caused by anti-Citizenship Amendment Act protesters, he outright held the Congress and other parties in its family for the trouble. He said that those who raised anti-national slogans were inspired by the speeches delivered by Owaisi. "Now the Congress and the communist parties have been working to spoil the name of Narendra Modi in the name of these disturbances. Mahatma Gandhi had said that the Congress should limit its role to just freedom struggle and wished that it should be disbanded thereafter. If his words were met, we would not have witnessed disturbances of this scale," he stated.
Kateel reminded that Gandhiji had a dream of extending protection to minority people coming into India from neighbouring countries. Instead of following his wishes, the Congress just cornered votes in his name, he pointed out. He said that Narendra Modi and Amit Shah have realised the dream of Mahatma Gandhi. He mentioned the fact that since Narendra Modi took over the reins of the country in 2014, not a single incident of disturbances or terrorist activity had happened. "Largest number of riots and protests happened when the Congress was in power. The disturbances at New Delhi were part of a well-planned conspiracy to defame the BJP government. Protests should be the last resort after peaceful means. But people who participated in Delhi disturbances were armed with guns and lethal weapons. We have to question wherefrom they came," he urged.
When the opposition parties objected, Nalin said that even in his home district a major disturbance had happened, and mentioned that the Congress had held a meeting the previous day. "In that meeting, former district in-charge minister U T Khader said that the entire country will burn if Citizenship Amendment Act comes into force. Nalin said that a case against Khader has been registered and pointed out that after two days, protest was held, and incidents of arson were witnessed. He said that efforts to set a police station on fire were made, and a shop dealing in arms and ammunition was raided with the aim of stealing these things. "Canes and stones were used against the police, and the Congress was behind these acts," he charged.
