New Delhi, Mar 10: The Kamal Nath-led Congress government in Madhya Pradesh (MP) plunged into crisis after 17 MLAs loyal to former MP Jyothiraditya Scindia were flown by a chartered flight to Bengaluru. Scindia, who was close to Gandhis and was reportedly upset about the functioning of Kamal Nath as chief minister (CM) and also irked against 'slow-decision making' high command, is reportedly set to join BJP on Tuesday or Wednesday. A section of media reported that Scindia will meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi and then formally announce his decision.
Monitoring Scindia's movements closely, home minister Amit Shah chaired a meeting with senior central leaders as well as Madhya Pradesh BJP leaders. If all 17 Congress MLAs resign, then the strength of Congress party in MP assembly will come down to 103. This will help BJP with 107 MLAs to form a government, just like in Karnataka.

However, MP chief minister Kamal Nath has vowed to fight back."I won't let those forces succeed which are creating instability with mafia's help... which are creating instability in government, a government created by people of Madhya Pradesh," he was quoted as saying by news agency ANI.
Meantime, 20 ministers in current MP government have tendered their resignation to the CM to make way for 'disgruntled' MLAs as ministers.
An alarmed Congress high command has reportedly proposed a formula to Scindia, to send him to Rajya Sabha as first preference candidate. His close confidante, health minister Tulsi Silawat, a Dalit face could succeed Kamal Nath as the new state Congress party chief. There has been no official confirmation of this. But sources say that, it is highly unlikely that Scindia would accept this formula.
