Dubai, Nov 8: At least 1.5 million pills worth nearly $4 million were seized between January and October in a crackdown on illegal drug supply in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), WAM news agency reported.
Major General Abdul Al Jalil Mahdi Al Asmawi, director of anti-narcotics section of Dubai Police, Friday said the pills are smuggled into the UAE from Asian and Arab countries.
He added that people from more than 70 countries are involved in the trade.
"Thanks to the vigilance of police and close coordination between different departments in the UAE. Dubai Police managed to uncover and foil several drug trafficking operations," he added.
