Mangaluru, Feb 23: Kavoor police on Saturday, February 22, arrested the accused who allegedly abducted a minor girl student from Jappinaguthu in Kunjathbail.
The arrested has been identified as Parashurama (26), a resident of Badami. Police arrested him at Bagalkot and the girl was brought back safely.
It may be recalled that the girl in question, who is aged 16, had come home from school on the evening of February 14. As per complaint, she discarded her uniform and changed into different clothing thereafter. Moments later, a person identified a Parashuram (26), escorted her away.
Parashurama
People living in the neighbourhood had seen Parshuram taking the girl away with him. As the girl did not return home for long, people went searching for her at various places but failed to locate her. As she could not be traced, the girl's father lodged a complaint at Kavoor police station about the abduction on February 16.
Both the families of the girl and the boy are of north Karnataka origin. As per police, these families had come to the city searching for employment here and work as coolies.
The accused was produced at the court and remanded to judicial custody.
