Mangaluru, Feb 21: The health and environment department of the city corporation here has imposed fine of Rs 1.45 lac on ten residential apartments within the city corporation limits for failing to install waste processing units in their buildings in spite of repeated instructions and notices.
The corporation commissioner had earlier warned that the process of penalizing the erring buildings would begin from February 10. Still several departments have not even initiated the process to installing the units. Therefore, such residential complexes were fined. In some apartments, even though the units have not started functioning, process has been started and hence they have been spared of the penal action.
