Mangaluru, Feb 6: December 19 Golibar Victims Justice Forum has demanded to conduct judicial probe into the firing which was resorted during the disturbances in the city on account of anti Citizenship Amendment Act protests. The forum has demanded to register murder cases against the policemen who fired at innocent people and in case of people who suffered serious injuries, murder attempt cases should be registered. Member of the forum, Abdul Jaleel K, addressing a press meet here on Wednesday February 5, said that a memorandum containing these demands has already been submitted to the government.
He demanded for dropping of false cases being registered against innocent people including Abdul Jaleel and Nausheen, who died during the firing. He also urged the government to pay compensation of Rs 25 lac to families of the deceased and Rs 15 lac to those who suffered serious injuries.
"The accused policemen should be kept under suspension. A team of high level officials should be formed to probe the cases. If inquiry is conducted by magistrate or criminal intelligence department without acting against the police, they might influence the probe. The government has to consider our demands seriously failing which we will carry on our legal fight," he stated.
Forum members Rafiuddin Kudroli, Mustafa Kempi, M G Muhammed, Athaulla Jokatte, advocate Haneef, Siddique Talapady, Rizawan HIF, brother of deceased Jaleel, Yahya Kandak, and Nausheen 's brother Naufal Kudroli, and some others were present.
