Udupi: Kasturba Hospital Manipal receives SKOCH Award

Udupi, Jan 27: Kasturba Hospital, Manipal received SKOCH Silver Award for contribution to Swastha Bharath for promoting hand hygiene.

Dr H S Ballal, pro-chancellor, MAHE Manipal and Dr H Vinod Bhat vice-chancellor, MAHE Manipal handed over the SKOCH Award to Jibu Thomas, head-operation, Kasturba Hospital, Manipal.

Dr Poornima Baliga B, pro-chancellor, Dr Narayan Sabhahit registrar, MAHE Manipal, Dr Sharath K Rao, dean KMC Manipal, C G Muthana, COO, Dr Avinash Shetty, medical superintendent and Dr Padmaraj Hegde deputy medical superintendent of Kasturba Hospital, Manipal were present. With this award Kasturba Hospital Manipal has added one more feather to its awards.

SKOCH Award, instituted in 2003, is the highest civilian honour in the country conferred by an independent organization. It recognises people, projects and institutions that go the extra mile to make India a better nation. It is distinctive for its approach of selection of awardees, which is based on nomination, jury evaluation and presentation of shortlisted nominees, focus group discussions, interactions and peer evaluation. Kasturba Hospital, Manipal is the first hospital to achieve both the SKOCH order of Merit and 'SKOCH Silver Award' in this region and among the group hospitals.
