Kasargod: Death of teacher - Mobile found, case transferred to crime branch

Kasargod, Jan 22: Probe into the suspicious death of B K Roopashree (40), teacher of Vidyavardhaka School at Meeyapadavu near Kumble in the district, has been handed over to the district crime branch.

A team headed by deputy superintendent of police A Satish Kumar and Manjeshwar additional police sub-inspector Balachandran, has undertaken investigation. The investigation was handed over to the district crime branch as per the orders of the district superintendent of police.

The team visited Chigurupade and conducted search operation in the teacher's home. They found one of the mobile phones belonging to the teacher, which had gone missing, during the search. It was found by the side of a window. As its battery was drained, it had got switched off. The team plans to check it for contents after charging it.

On Tuesday January 21 morning, a procession led by Janapara Vedike was taken out at Meeyapadavu, demanding for aggressive investigation into the death of the teacher, and awarding of strict punishment to the guilty. The procession, which began at Meeyapadavu church, concluded in the school premises.
