Bengaluru, Jan 21: Taking into consideration various incidents of seat blocking system followed by various colleges running professional courses, the state government has decided to treat the process of blocking of seats in these courses with the objective of depriving the eligible students of the right to get seats, as a criminal offence.
It has decided to register criminal cases against students who help in blocking of the seats by appearing for National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) time and again in spite of having cleared the exam earlier and bagged medical courses.
The government has noted that certain institutions, in order to bag 15 percent quota seats at the All India level, use services of intelligent students to appear for the examinations again to block seats through middlemen.
