Udupi, Sep 16: The employees of Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) attached to AIIEA, AILIEA and Federation of Class I Officers Association, staged a protest, in front of the divisional office, located at Ajjarkad, here on Wednesday September 16.
The protest was staged by LIC employees, in order to urge the government and management of LIC, to revise the pay scales, as it remained unrevised since August 1 2007, despite repeated pleas from various employees unions.
In the backdrop of salaries of Public Sector Undertakings (PSU) being revised from time to time, there has been a considerable delay in revising the pay scales of LIC employees. LIC has recorded major growth in premium income, despite global economic turndown and many of the Indian financial institutions are incurring losses.
The customers’ trust in LIC’s products and service excellence has contributed for LIC’s major chunk of premium income, which should have enabled the union government and employers, to revise the employee’s pay scales, urged heads of various unions at LIC’s divisional office, here.
