Udupi, Jan 12: Aayan Home Nursing Services marked the opening of its third branch in Kunjibettu, Udupi, with a grand celebration on January 11. The event was a mix of prayer, ceremonial speeches, and insightful reflections on the growing need for home nursing services.
The event began with a blessing prayer by Fr Ravi Rajesh Serreo, vice-principal and administrator of Trinity Central School, Perampalli, who sprinkled holy water to bless the new centre. Dr P V Bhandary, director of Dr A V Baliga Group of Institutions, Udupi, officially inaugurated the branch by cutting the ceremonial ribbon.
The formal ceremony continued with the lighting of a lamp, symbolising growth and prosperity. Walter Nandalike, founder and editor-in-chief of Daijiworld, spoke about the crucial role of home nursing services, particularly during the Covid-19 pandemic.
“Home nurse service is your identity. The life span of patients will increase according to the service provided with love. During the pandemic, nurses came close to patients and provided us with new life. Whether the service receiver is old, young, or an accident victim, only with your love will there be a 50 percent chance of recovery. Aged parents do not wish to go abroad with their children, and at that time, home nursing will be helpful. We must encourage young entrepreneurs. Youngsters must venture into business,” he said.
Dr. P V Bhandary also acknowledged the increasing demand for home nursing services, particularly as children are often busy with work and unable to care for their aging parents. “Home nursing is a growing need. As there is a decrease in the number of children looking after parents, the need for more home nurses is increasing,” he said.
He also suggested providing professional training for nurses and expressed willingness to collaborate with Aayan Home Nursing Services for services related to cancer patients, psychiatric patients, and more. "Home nurses will replace children in such cases,” he added.
Fr Ravi Rajesh Serreo praised managing director Lawrence Avil for his tireless dedication. “Avil has worked hard to reach this milestone. This service is a blessing to society, and I wish Aayan Home Nursing Services continued growth,” he remarked.
Soujanya, a client of Aayan, shared her positive experience with the company, highlighting how Avil goes beyond business. “For him, it’s more than just a business, it’s a service. He often waives charges for patients in need, making this a truly essential service. I wish him continued growth and hope he can extend his support to more people in society,” she said.
Sam, partner of the Bengaluru branch, reflected on the company’s journey, saying, “Today we are celebrating not just past achievements but a promising future. Aayan Home Nursing Services was born out of a simple yet powerful vision of providing compassionate and professional care. Over the years, this vision has guided us, allowing us to achieve milestones with great pleasure. We care for countless patients, making a meaningful difference in their lives and giving their families peace of mind.”
Lawrence Avil, the managing director, outlined the company’s journey since its inception in 2017. “Aayan Home Nursing Services provides both medical and non-medical services, including baby care, maternity care, physiotherapy, and trained caregivers for various needs,” he said.
The ceremony was attended by staff, well-wishers, and community members. Preethi, the Udupi branch’s managing nurse, welcomed the gathering, and Lakshmeesha Suvarna compered the event.
