Udupi, Sep 11: Youth should take up activities that stresses about environmental concern along with academics, said Shirva St Mary’s Education Institutions correspondent and parish priest Fr Richard Coelho.
He was speaking at the one-day workshop on environment held at St Mary’s College, Shirva, near here on Thursday September 10. He said that the environmental awareness campaign should be continuously held by education institutions in order to spread awareness among students on safeguarding environment.
Zilla panchayat president Gladys D’Almeida inaugurated the workshop and urged the youth to regard the eco-environment with care.
Leo Saldanha and Bhargavi Rao were the chief resource persons, who provided information on rural health, AIDS awareness, women empowerment and global environmental concern. Fr Edwin D’Souza and software engineer Simon D’Souza were the chief guests. The programme was held under the aegis of Environment Support Group.
