Mangaluru, Nov 5: “Sixty candidates of Congress have filed nominations for 60 wards in Mangaluru City Corporation elections. But BJP has 90 candidates. In some wards they have filed nominations for three candidates in the form of independents only with the intension of breaking the minority votes. Voters should realise this and give a reply to BJP by result,” said MLC Ivan D’Souza.
In a press meet held in the city Ivan said, “BJP does not have a clear agenda in this election. They are busy in spreading false news on Congress. The MLAs Vedavyas Kamath and Dr Y Bharath Shetty are directly responsible for hiking water charges. When we were in power, we strongly opposed the hiking of the water charges in city. But after our term, MCC administrator and officials directly increased the charges. Both the MLAs failed to stop the decision of officials. So both MLAs should clarify on this matter and stop spreading false news. I openly challenge them to provide the proof of Congress administration’s involvement in price hike, otherwise they should accept their failure.”
Speaking about the controversial video of Chief Minister Ivan said, “CM Yediyurappa has accepted that Amit Shah, home minister and BJP national president ‘supervised and made all arrangements’ for the Karnataka MLAs, who carried out a protracted mutiny that led to the collapse of the Congress-Janata Dal Secular government earlier this year. The video clearly says how the BJP is weakening our democracy and violating the law of this land. So both Yediyurappa and Amit Shah should resign immediately. They don’t have any morality to continue in their posts.”
“After the leakage of video, the chief minister has banned mobile phones and video cameras in his meetings. By this order he indirectly accepted that some wrong and illegal things are getting discussed in his chamber and meetings. Congress will bring this all to the notice of Supreme Court and demand probe on revolt of disqualified MLAs,” concluded Ivan.
