Mumbai (RBI), Oct 30: "Non-resident (outside) Kannadigas are all assets of coastal and are boon for the prosperity of Karnataka. Non-resident Indians and Mumbaikars have contributed enough to coastal hinterland. So, my priority is the development of overseas Kannadigas. Such non-resident Kannadigars need a ministry and the government needs to plan for this and to provide employment to those returning to back from abroad. Efforts are underway to include it in the manifesto, said Non-Residential Indians (NRI Forum Karnataka) vice chairperson Dr Aarthi Krishna.
Dr Aarthi Krishna spoke at a felicitation programme organized by Team Mangalorean (Mumbai) at the Lotus Halla of club house of Solitare Corporate Park, Andheri East here on Tuesday evening.
MRCC senior vice president Janet L D'Souza presided over a simple programme in which former minister of Karnataka B Ramanatha Rai was the chief guest and inaugurated the programme by lighting a lamp. Later, the guests honoured her with shawl, flower boutique and momento to Arathi Krishna, congratulated her and wished her best for future.
The guests of honour were Pius L Rodrigues, former chairman of Bantwal Urban Development Authority (BUDA), Wilson Fernandes, chairman of Fernandes Group, Clive Dias Barkuru, former corporator, Sylvester Rodriguez, chairman of dimension (Global Christian Chamber of Commerce), John Wilson Lobo, chairman Lobo Foundation (Thane), and Allwyn Sequeira Gargadi (Orlem), executive chairman AJS Group graced the stage.
Ramanath Rai said, "Dr Aarthi Krishna's father was my acquaintance and closely related. Aarthi Krishna is the person who deserves to respond to the well-being of non-resident Indians." He said that her personality is known for efficient leadership and she is a woman who can respond directly to problems.
"Mumbaikars are well-intentioned people and the people of coastal here, we all of us are achievers of one kind or another. All their hard work is the strength of unity of love and trust," said Pius Rodrigues.
Wilson Fernandes said, "Kannadigas among non-resident Indians are facing many problems. Especially our people in Gulf or international countries are facing the issue of fake agents. All these need a solution he said."
"It is our privilege to honour Dr Aarthi Krishna. In recognition of his exceptional service work, the government has awarded her a prestigious post. This program is a proof that love and trust relationships grow through language. Our children are based around the world and for them in difficult times such relationships of influential people come in handy," Janet L D'Souza in her presidential address wished Dr Aarthi many more good posts.
Bonifus Sequeira Barkuru, Arthur Mendonca, Ralph Pereira, Rex Fernandes, Anil D'Souza Amboli, Everest Pais, Eugen D'Souza Marol, Vincent Fernandes Sarapadi, Lawrence D'Souza Mulund, Vipul Rodrigues, Suraj Rodrigues, and Ivor Sequeira Sahar were present in the programme.
Thelma James D’sa and Leena Lasrado offered prayers. Rons Bantwal welcomed with introductory remarks. Leo Fernandes Jerimeri, Reshma Anil D’Almeida, Reema Vincent Rusquinha, Sr Joyline RS, William D'Souza Vakola, Vincent Castellino, Juliet Pereira, Mersine Miranda introduced the guests. Walter D'Souza Jerimeri, Reginald Santumayer Vasai, Claudy Monteiro Modankapu, Peter D'Souza Sion, Dian D'Souza Virar, James D’sa Perampalli, Francis Fernandes Cascia, Francis Castellino Mahakali, and Ivan Anand D'Souza Nakre felicitated the guests with bouquets.
Wallace Wilson Fernandes introduced Dr Aarthi and gave the congratulatory words. Flora D'Souza Kalmadi (JeriMari) compered the programme and gave the vote of thanks. The programme concluded with the national anthem.
