Bidar, Aug 10: Distressed by the failure of crops and overwhelmed by the burden of liabilities, two farmers from the district committed suicide on Sunday August 9.
Bhandrappa Sangram (50) committed suicide by hanging himself from a mango tree located in a field in the outskirts of Yadalapur village in the district by using the cloth he was wearing. He had three acres of fields and had taken loans from a bank and some individuals for raising sugarcane crop besides conducting marriage ceremonies of his children. A case has been registered in Bidar rural police station in this connection.
Tulsiram Rajaba Manaji (65) from Vilaspur village consumed insecticide to end his life, when none of the family members were present at home. He was later taken to a hospital but could not be revived. He too had heavy burden of loans and the crops he tried to raise, had withered. A case was registered in Janawada police station in this respect.
