Udupi, Aug 6: ‘Radio-Manipal’, a community radio of Manipal University, has started a talent show in association with Syndicate Bank to provide an opportunity to young musicians from schools and colleges and around the city and Manipal, to exhibit their skills.
This programme was recently inaugurated at the Manipal Institute of Communication (MIC) by Dr M V Kamath, honourary director, MIC.
“It is a reality that there is vast untapped talent in Udupi-Manipal and its region. We intend to tap this with regularity”, said Dr Kamath.
“Radio-Manipal has been active for months now and soon, with the assistance and permission of the union government, we hope to expand the radio’s currently limited reach. We have always received community support in all endeavours”, he added.
Syndicate Bank assistant general manager Sadananda Shanbag and T Ranga Pai, deputy registrar of quality, human resources, and compliance, Manipal University, were the chief guests on the occasion.
MIC faculty and Radio–Manipal co-ordinator Sunil Bhadri was also present.
The talent show is scheduled to be a half-hour programme and recordings will be aired every Sunday between 6.00 pm to 6.30 pm. The students can perform classical, vocal, light music or devotional songs.
