Moodbidri, Aug 6: Dr M V Shetty Institute of Technology (MVSIT) celebrated ‘Vanamahostava’ on Wednesday August 5, at its campus at Todar in Moodbidri.
The chief whip of the opposition in the state assembly, K Abhayachandra Jain, inaugurated the programme.
He said, “Even if we receive rain in large amounts, it is only for four months. There will be an acute shortage of water in the months March-May. So, we have to recharge the ground water by planting saplings.”
“The college will continue the plantation drive at different places in and around the campus”, said Dr M Ramgopal Shetty, secretary, Dr M V Shetty Trust.
Trustee Divanjali Shetty, administrative officer Dr Chandra Shekar Shetty, panchayat Member Divakar Shetty, principal Dr Sandeep J Nayak, professors, and faculty members of MVSIT were present.
