Mangaluru, Oct 23: The four-day state level philatelic exhibition 'KARNAPEX 2019' which was held from October 12 to 15, generated revenue up to Rs 10 lac, informed senior superintendent of post office Sriharsha.
Addressing media here on Tuesday, October 22, Sriharsha said, "Earlier Philatelic exhibition was held in Bengaluru, Mysuru and Dharwad. The maiden state level exhibition in Mangaluru has received positive response and was able to generate revenue of Rs 10 lac.
"We had also approached schools through DDPI and BEO. Nearly 20 schools took part in the philatelic exhibition as it was a wonderful exposure for the students to know about philately. In the exhibition, close to 600 frames consisting of national and international stamps of various themes were exhibited. Special covers on Amar Chitra Katha fame Ananth Pai, Girish Karnad and George Fernandes, in addition to the release of picture post cards - divine heritage of Dakshina Kannada and Udupi and release of book on special covers of Karnataka Volume III, also took place.
“There are only two colleges in Mangaluru where there is active philatelic clubs, where we conduct workshops and other activities pertaining to philately. Anyone can open PD account by submitting documents such as ID proof at post office. For getting the stamps of your choice, you may credit the amount of PD account at any post office at your convenience. The stamps will be supplied to your door step to the extent of the amount credited.
"During the exhibition, we had set up ‘My Stamp’ stall which also received good response. You can have your own stamps by submitting photo and Rs 300 for one sheet,” said Sriharsha.
