Mangaluru: Feast of Pope John Paul II celebrated

Mangaluru, Oct 22: With great joy and honour, the feast of Pople John Paul II was celebrated on Tuesday at the shrine dedicated to him at Bajpe, here.

Fr Clifford Fernandes, the parish priest of St Joseph’s church, Jeppu and professor of St Joseph’s Pontifical inter-diocesan seminary Jeppu, presided over the Eucharistic celebration. After the mass, a Konkani devotional album ‘Harsum Triyek Devak’ was released. The album which is dedicated to St John Paul II is composed by Denis Gonsalves, Vamanjoor.

Daivik Sparsh Federation has sponsored the entire album. Fr Ronald Coutinha, the parish priest of Bajpe, Fr Stany Monteiro, the director of the shrine and Santhosh D’Souza, the vice-president were present during the ceremony.

Along with Denis Gonsalves, Dr Prashanth Raj, Shilpa Cutinha, Joshal D’Souza and others rendered their melodious voices for the album. Music and harmonization is done by Maxim Moras. The mixing and mastering is done by Melroy Furtado.

The programme was compered by Eugine D’Souza. Denis Gonsalves rendered the vote of thanks.
