Kundapur, Oct 21: Farmers are devastated after the fall of Kumaraswamy government due to lack of knowledge on ‘Runa Mukta Kaide’ which was brought in by Kumaraswamy government and approved by the President of India. Thousands of people were seen flocking in front of Mini Vidhana Saudha since Monday morning in this connection.

People from villages in Kundapur are coming to Kundapur since the last three days. Many were waiting to submit applications for ‘Runa Muktha Kaide’ since Monday morning, but many people did not know to who it is applicable.

What is ‘Runa Muktha Kaide’?

In simple terms it is a simple waiver of loan borrowed from compound interest lenders and marvaris with interest.

If the borrowers have pledged property records and if they have acknowledgement to that effect, the borrowers should hand over those acknowledgements to the government assigned officials so that the borrowers will be able to get back their original property records from the lenders under the scheme.

The loans borrowed by cooperative societies, banks and registered finance companies are not covered in the scheme. Though the details were mentioned in taluk office notice boards, people were seen rushing toward Kundapur bus stand and Xerox shops as Monday is the last day for submission of applications.
