Bangalore, Aug 4: Honnali MLA Renukacharya, who did not tire of heaping lofty praises on Chief Minister Yeddyurappa in the past and was disliked by many in the ruling party because of this attitude, appears to be drifting away from the state leadership of the party, of late.
After getting entangled in a controversy relating to quipping that "the heads of those who want to cut off the hands of the pro-Hindutva people, should be chopped off", presumably in response to a statement made by Congress leader and former minister Kagodu Timmappa, Renukacharya has been in the news mostly for wrong reasons. For this provocative statement, he was arrested on June 29 and then released on bail.
BJP state president D V Sadanand Gowda has now issued a show cause notice to Renukacharya, asking him as to why disciplinary action should not be taken against him for his acts of indiscipline. "Being a legislator of the BJP, it is your duty to behave with utmost responsibility. But your recent behaviour has been a cause of concern for the party leadership. The party has taken note of the press statements issued by you, group consultations being held by you along with other legislators and also holding of secret meetings with them," Gowda stated in the letter.
