Mangaluru, Oct 19: AICS Throw Ball Tournament 2019 was organized by St Agnes CBSE School, Bendore, at the St Agnes College grounds.
A total of 32 schools from Udupi and Dakshina Kannada participated in the tournament. The weather conditions indicated a promising event.
The day began with a stately welcome of the dignitaries by the school band followed by the top brass of the school.
The chief guest for the day was Shantharama, inspector, Kadri Police Station.
The guests of honour were Dr John Pinto, director of Physical Education, GFGC Kavoor, Mangaluru, Dr Sr Maria Roopa A C, the joint secretary, St Agnes Institutions and Sr Carmel Rita A C, administrator, St Agnes College (Autonomous).
The prayer song and welcome dance was a synergy of students and teachers.
Shantaraman, in his address note, encouraged students to play with team spirit irrespective of the outcome. The opening of the tournament by the luminaries gave a fitting start to the event.
The throw ball display was a wonderful spectacle of coordination and true sportsman spirit which set the mood for the participants.
The valedictory function was graced by the chairman of MCC Bank, Anil Lobo and the national level referee Balakrishna.
There was tough competition among all the teams but as it is rightly said ‘There is only one winner’.

Vidhyavardaka English Medium School, Shirva - Runner Up Trophy
Canara High School, Dongarakery - 3rd Place
St Agnes CBSE School, Bendore - 4th Place
The day was historic for all Agnesians as it saw the presence of top level officials in the field of sports and other well known personalities. The host school wished all the participating teams the very best for the next year.
The month long groundwork brought rich rewards for the school and management through the camaraderie of the school fraternity
