Udupi, Jul 23: Regional transport officer H N Ramesh said that the Udupi RTO will be computerized in another three months.
Addressing media persons on Thursday July 23 at the Regional Transport Office (RTO) here on Wednesday July 23, Ramesh said that in all 55 RTOs in the state have been computerized. Stating that cases booked against daily sale account (DSA) stands at 186 for the quarter April-June 2009 as against 2,095 DSA cases booked during the quarter April-June 2008, he said that the fine collected for the period is Rs 12 lac. For the quarter, 86 cases for overlaoading have been booked and a fine of Rs 6.83 lac has been collected against the same, he said.
The yearly target for tax collection set for 2009-10 is 38.07 crore as against Rs 35.83 crore in the year 2008-09, said Ramesh. Udupi RTO has collected tax amounting Rs 933.63 lac as against amount of Rs 951.75 lac set as target for quarter ended June 30, 2009 with a slight shortfall of 18.12 lac. However, shortfall for the same period in 2008 was Rs 73.7 lac, thus bettering the revenue by Rs 55.58 lac in 2009, he added.
The newly registered motor vehicles for the quarter April-June 2009 is 3,756 as against 3,157 vehicles registered for the same period in 2008, he said. Assistant regional transport officer A V Sridhar was present.
