Triptii Dimri exits Aashiqui 3: director Anurag Basu addresses rumours

Mumbai, Jan 13: The highly anticipated Aashiqui 3, starring Kartik Aaryan, has seen an unexpected twist with Triptii Dimri's exit from the project. Fans were thrilled to see Dimri and Aaryan team up for the romantic franchise after their success in Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, especially after Dimri participated in the film's look tests and even shot the mahurat scene.

However, recent developments have confirmed that Dimri will no longer be part of the film. Rumours suggested that her departure was due to her 'too exposed' role in Animal, with claims that her portrayal in bold scenes made her unsuitable for the traditional, pure image required for Aashiqui 3's female lead.

Director Anurag Basu clarified these speculations, telling Mid Day, "That’s not true," and added, "Triptii knows it too." With Dimri now out, the makers are actively seeking a new female lead for the movie, which is expected to start production in January or February.

Dimri, who gained attention for her role in Animal alongside Ranbir Kapoor, faced backlash over her intimate scenes with Kapoor. In a candid interview on Ranveer Allahbadia's podcast, she shared the emotional toll the criticism had on her, revealing that she cried for days after the film’s release due to the unexpected backlash.

On the work front, Dimri is currently filming Vishal Bhardwaj's Arjun Ustara, where she was initially set to star opposite Kartik Aaryan. However, Shahid Kapoor has now replaced Aaryan in the role. Additionally, Dimri will be seen in Dhadak 2, directed by Karan Johar, where she stars alongside Siddhant Chaturvedi.
