Mumbai (RBI), Jan 11: The Mumbai Rangamilan team has won 8 awards at the 23rd Nevarshe Mthuru Tulu Drama Competition, organised by Tulu Koota Udupi (R) and the Karnataka Tulu Sahitya Academy.
The Mumbai Rangamilan team participated in the competition with the play "Socrates". The play was performed under the direction of Manohar Shetty Nandalike, with assistance from Sadhaya, Naveen Innabale, Raheem Sachiri Pate, and others.
This event was organised as part of the annual Tulu Koota Udupi (R) competition, which is held at the MGM College in Udupi.
In the "Socrates" play, Mumbai artists such as Suri Marnad, Ravi Hegde Hermunde, Deeksha Devadiga, Latesh Poojari, Sachin Sherigar, Kishore Pirla, and Sushila acted in the performance. Support for lighting was provided by Manjunath Shettigar, lighting by Praveen Kodavooru, and music by Divakar Katil.
The play received a total of 8 awards, with cash prizes, permanent plaques, and certificates presented to the winners.

Best actor: First place – Surendra Kumar Shetty Marnad (Socrates)
Best actress: Second place – Deeksha Devadiga (Santhipe)
Best stage decoration: Second place – Rangamilan Mumbai
Best play: Third place – Socrates
Best direction: Third place – Manoher Shetty Nandalike
Best lighting: Third place – Praveen G Kodavooru
Best music: Third place – Divakar Katil
Special mention by judges: Latesh Poojari (Plato)
The panel of judges for the 23rd Mthuru Tulu drama competition included renowned theater personalities Dr Gnanath G Ekkar, Dr Bharat Kumar Polipu, and Dr Sukanya Martis.
The awards ceremony for the drama competition will be held on January 26, 2025, at the MGM College Muddana Mantapa in Udupi, where the first-place winning play will be re-performed.
Tulu Koota Udupi (R) president B Jayakar Shetty Indrali, secretary Gangadhar Kidiyur, and the coordinator of the Mthuru Drama Competition, B Prabhakar Bhandari, will be present at the event. This is a proud moment for Mumbai Tulu-Kannadigas.
