Kundapur, Sep 27: Vishwanath Ganiga, who participated in Commonwealth Bench-press Powerlifting Championship in Canada and won gold medal in powerlifting category, arrived at his hometown on Thursday September 26. Kundapur Ganiga Seva Sangha, groups and associations in Kundapur including those at his hometown, Balikere, arrived at Saligrama to receive him, offered special puja at Lord Anjaneya temple there and felicitated Ganiga.
Vishwanath was taken in a procession in an open jeep fitted with mike and accompanied by drummers along with cavalcade of cars. Panchavarma Yuvaka Mandala, Giliyaru Yuvaka Mandala, Vipra Balaga Saligrama, JCI Kota Brigadier, auto drivers and owners association and others draped shawls around Ganiga, presented fruits and flowers, extended hearty welcome and honored him.
Vipra Mahila Balaga performed Arati and showered flower petals on Vishwanath Ganiga. Panchavarna Yuvaka Mandala honorary advisor, Chandra Acharya, draped shawl, while Dasamsa Kota Hobali leader, T Manjunath Giliyar, presented fruits and flowers and Karanth foundation member M Subraya Acharya garlanded him.

Ganiga was later taken in a procession to Kundapur via Thekkatte by national highway and taken to his residence via Tallur - Hemmady road.
