Delhi, Sep 26: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) special court at Delhi, on Wednesday September 25, dismissed the bail application of former Karnataka minister, D K Shivakumar, currently lodged in Tihar jail.
Judge of the court, Ajay Kumar Kuhar, expressed the view that granting of bail at a time when the investigation into allegations is in preliminary stages and the agency is collecting details of assets of the petitioner, may interfere with the investigation. Shivakumar, as such, will have to be in judicial custody at Tihar jail till October 1.
The court also expressed the view that bail cannot be granted by overlooking welfare of the society and health problems cannot be construed as valid ground for bail.
Speaking to media persons after the court announced its order, MP, D K Suresh, who is the brother of Shivakumar, said that a bail petition for his brother would be filed in Delhi high court on Thursday.
