Thiruvananthapuram, Sep 10: A one-year-old girl baby, that was sitting on the lap of her mother, in a moving jeep, fell off to the road located amid thick forest at Rajamala in Idukki district, Kerala. The baby, which had suffered injuries in the fall which occurred on Sunday night, crawled to a check post located nearby.
It is said that the parents of the girl, who were returning after attending a religious ceremony, were vert tired and were fast asleep inside the jeep. They did not realize that the baby had slipped off the jeep till the jeep travelled a few kilometers farther from that spot. The parents of the child were from Kamalikkandam village which is located some distance away from Rajamala forest check post.
The forest officials at the check post were surprised to hear the child's cries at the odd hours. The child had reached a path inside the forest that is frequented by wild animals including elephants when the forest officials located it, it is learnt. The baby, with some injuries on face and forehead which were caused by the fall, was taken to a nearby hospital where first aid was administered. The officials then informed the police.
CCTV footage of the check post which shows the baby falling from the jeep and then slowly making her way to near the check post has become viral in social media.
The parents of the child who realized after the mother woke up that the child was no more with her, visited Vellattuval police station and informed them about their child going missing. In the meanwhile, the check post staff had conveyed information about finding the child, to all police stations. The parents were later united with the baby, it is learnt.
