London, July 5 (IANS): Italy's 16-year-old youngster Alberto Massaci is all set to sign for Manchester United.
The right-back from Emploli has never figured in the first team of Serie B squad but impressed Manchester United scouts last year in an international youth tournament, where he was also voted as the best player.
The Sun reported that Massacci had spent three days at Old Trafford during which he underwent a medical test and is all set to become the club's third recruit this summer.
"I couldn't believe it when United called and it was really Sir Alex Ferguson on the phone. But it was him, and I had an hour-long chat with him, in English. He seemed to me a modest, simple, incredible person," Massacci was quoted as saying by the daily.
"In life, a chance like this comes only once, and you've got to grab it with both hands. Even if at 16 years old it isn't an easy decision, you have to leave your home, family and friends. But I don't want to have regrets," he said.
Massacci will become United's third signing of the summer, after Antonio Valencia and Michael Owen.
