Udupi, Aug 31: “The projects taken up in the district by fisheries and ports department are delayed. In this connection, the spots will be inspected by state level department officials,” said minister of fisheries, ports and inland water transport, Kota Srinivas Poojary. He spoke at a progress review meeting held at DC office on Friday.

“The breakwater project in Koderi worth Rs 33 crore should have been completed by January end, but only 20% work is over,” he said. He asked officials to submit a report for cancelling the license of contractor and include him in blacklist.

“The traffic of fisheries boats is hindered as no dredging is done in Kodi Kanyana. Therefore, obtain permission and take up dredging in terms of CRZ rules so that work is completed on time. Third stage work in Malpe is completed. Hand it over to fisheries department by September end.

“First stage Kerala model work worth Rs 45 crore for outport is over at Maravante. As it is not useful for fishermen, senior officials will inspect the land for second stage of work,” he said. He obtained details of funds available to prevent sea erosion and asked officials to provide details of applications received so far. He said that a proposal for additional 300 liter kerosene oil will be submitted for country boats.

Country boat engine subsidy and matsyashraya project were discussed at the meeting.
