Udupi, Aug 16: St Cecily's High School celebrated the 73rd Independence Day with patriotic fervour.
To commemorate the national festival, the school organized a patriotic singing competition for the students. Many groups enthusiastically participated presenting various melodious patriotic songs. Students also presented an entertainment programme rekindling the sense of love and service toward the motherland. A meaningful prayer beseeched God's blessings on the nation. The skits delivered apt awareness to students about their responsibilities as citizens of this rich and tolerant motherland. Dances mesmerized the audience and enhanced the festive feelings in all.
All staff, students, parents and well wishers of the institution united at the campus to witness the flag hoisting ceremony. The tricolour was hoisted by the chief guest, Naveen Ammana, a former serviceman, Air Force. He appreciated the patriotic gusto of Cecilians who braved the torrential rains to portray their respect for the country. Sr Preethi Crasta, headmistress, St Cecily's School, Udupi welcomed the chief guest and all compatriots present. Sr Vibha, the joint secretary of St Cecily's institutions also graced the dais.
Students also sang songs in praise of our nation.
On a concluding note Riya, the ASPL of the high school proposed the vote of thanks.
The Guides and Scouts participated in the march past at the district level Independence Day celebration at Beedinagudde grounds.
