Uppinangady, June 17: In an incident that occurred at Aleji, Charya near here group of 12 persons allegedly barged into a Congress leader’s house and assaulted his family members apart from verbally abusing them.
It is said that Congress leader from Charya, Ajith allegedly had made fun of an anganwadi worker, Atti Kumari from Uruvalu, which led to the above incident. Atti Kumari had further lodged a complaint in this regard with the Uppinangady police and the investigation was on.
Meanwhile, Twelve-member-team and supporters of Atti Kumari entered the house of Ajith and assaulted as well as verbally abused his wife, mother and two domestic servants. The team also threatened Ajith’s family members. The injured family members of Ajith have been admitted Beltangady government hospital for treatment. However, with the incident of assault the episode has gained political colour.
Uppinangady police have registered a case.
