Madikeri, Jun 17: A woman, who had been treated in a local hospital after being torched by her husband some time back, died on Monday June 15. She has been identified as Bhagya (32), daughter of Dasaiah from Nandigunda village, who was married to Mahesh from Avaredal village a month back.
Mahesh had poured kerosene on his wife and set her on fire on June 7, as she refused to give him money for buying liquor. Her neighbourers had admitted her into a local hospital in a serious condition on Saturday. After being discharged, she had gone to the home of her parents.
After her death was reported, tahsildar Hirannaiah, circle inspector Prasanna Kumar and station house officer Harivardhan visited the spot and made inquiries. A case has already been registered against Mahesh.
