Mangalore, Jun 15: The monsoons remain weak in the coastal districts of Karnataka, which have been mostly having dry days, reminding one of the summer months. Intermittent showers which occur normally during the nights, have been the only consolation.
Kundapur received six cms of rain while Bangalore, Chikmagalur and Chitradurga districts reported rainfall of three cms each. In most of the coastal towns, the rainfall hovered between one and two cms.
The meteorological department has predicted that the coast of the state and southern hinterlands are likely to get normal to heavy rainfall in the coming two days. Northern hinterlands are expected to get light rainfall.
Due to lightning, three persons named Shakuntala, Vasanti and Krishnappa from Kukkuje Bukkigudde in Kadthala village near Ajekar in Karkala taluk were injured on Sunday June 14. They are being treated.
