Mysore, Jun 1: The city-based Konkani Christian Sangh has been actively working for the welfare of the Konkani Christian community and for the betterment of the society for the past 28 years.
On the occasion of the first anniversary celebrations of the state BJP Government under the leadership of B S Yeddyurappa, the Minority Development Corporation, which has recognized the efforts being made by the Sangh to improve the lot of the Konkani Christians here and activities being undertaken by it for their benefit, has sanctioned a sum of Rs 50 lac by way of financial aid for the construction of a Samudai (Konkan) Bhavan (community hall) at Vijayanagar 1st Stage here.
The first installment of Rs 15 lac was released by the government at the Vijay Sankalph Utsav on May 31, 2009. Gracian Rodrigues, president of Konkani Christian Sangh, Mysore, collected the amount.
The Samudai Bhavan is a project worth four crore rupees and people of all communities will have an opportunity to reap the benefits of the Bhavan for their social and cultural activities.
