Davanagere, Jul 1: The inauguration of the add-on courses (CET, NEET, JEE, COMED K, CPT, CS, CLAT, IAS, IPS ,IBPS ,CA AND PDO) was held at St Aloysius College, Harihar, on June 30.
The guests for the day were Fr Stany Dsouza, chairman of the Education Commission, diocese of Shimoga as the chief guest ,Dr Reena Alva , managing director, MARS Learning Centre , Mangaluru, Venkatesh Babu, assistant professor, department of Commerce, Davnagere .The guests were accompanied by Fr Eric Mathias SJ, superior and principal of Degree College, Fr Santhosh Fernandes SJ, principal, PU College, Fr Pradeep Sequeira SJ, finance officer, Fr Cyril Raj, vice principal, Degree College and coordinator of the programme and Sunny Gudinho, vice principal, PU College.
The programme was inaugurated by lighting the lamp. Dr Reena Alva, addressed the gathering where she mentioned discipline in life is the first step to success. She narrated a story of boy who worked hard in spite of all the hardships that he had and encountered on the way in his life. She was overjoyed with the discipline, the facilities and the opportunities the college provides. She stressed on the fact that education is the only way to fight against all odds.
Venkatesh Babu in his message to the students said awareness of one’s self , awareness of the one’s surrounding us and society in large is a quality that we must possess. “By knowing little and simple things around us, we may be able to build an understanding nation,” he said.
Fr Stany Dsouza in his words of inspiration to the students, emphasized on the fact that discipline, hard work and self-confidence will make you a successful person. “Every tiny thing is important in order to add value to what actually builds us as a person,” he said.
Fr Eric Mathias SJ, advised the students to be sociable, to serve the marginalized and by little deeds bring hope and light in the lives of others. “Everything that we do, we must do with joy and love,” he said.
Dr Reena Alva and Venkatesh Babu, took sessions on how to face these competitive exams for Science, Commerce and Arts students respectively.
Fr Cyril Raj, rendered the vote of thanks. The gathering was welcomed by Ankitha. The entire programme was compered by Padmini and Ankitha.
