Mangaluru, Jun 22: St Agnes PU College celebrated a century of educating and empowering women by commemorating the foundation day of its institution on Saturday, June 22.
Giselle Mehta, a renowned author and entrepreneur was the chief guest of the occasion. During her address she laid emphasis on the fact that her education at St Agnes steered her towards her personal flowering. She emphasised that education is a lifelong learning process of enrichment and application. She expressed her pleasure at being able to reconnect with the past and exhorted the students to value the big and small things in life and maintain a spirit of adventure.
A dance drama on the life of the founder of the college, Mother Aloysia A C and the varied activities of the institution was presented by the students. As many as 100 students offered 100 gifts to signify the completion of 100 fruitful years, which will be gifted to Bala Yesu Nilaya, a home for children coming from economically backward families of North Karnataka.
Dr Sr Maria Roopa A C, joint secretary of St Agnes Institutions, Sr Agatha Mary A C, former superior general, Sr Norine DSouza A C, principal and Sr Janet Sequeira A C, the vice principal were present. Shubhavani, Chrystle Almeida and Dr Tressie Menezes were the co-ordinators of the programme. Principal Sr Norine DSouza A C introduced the chief guest and welcomed the gathering. The programme was compered by Lovina Aranha and Arshiya Patel delivered the vote of thanks.
