Mangaluru, Jun 21: The Eucharistic celebration on the occasion of feast of St Aloysius Gonzaga was held on June 20 at the chapel. The students of primary, high school, and Gonzaga School assembled for the Mass. The celebrants for the Mass were Fr Larry Pinto, former student of St Aloysious along with Fr Melwyn Lobo SJ, principal of Gonzaga School, Fr Gerald Furtado SJ, correspondent.
Fr Larry Pinto, in his homily, requested all to follow the footprints of St Aloysious Loyola. A short felicitation was held for Fr Larry Pinto after the Mass.
A cultural programme was held in the school auditorium on the occasion. The chief guest for the day was Anil Rao, former PTA president. Fr Gerald Furtado, correspondent, Rekha Fernandes, vice president, PTA, Philomena Lewis, the HM were escorted to the hall by school band.
The programme began by invoking God’s blessings. The students of class 4 were the main participants. A meaningful play was presented on child’s responsibilities and to have faith in God, followed by a dance programme.
The chief guest Anil Rao, in his message, emphasized on the life of St Aloysious Gonzaga, quoting “It is better to be the child of God than to be king of the whole world.”
Fr Gerald Furtado, correspondent, in his message, asked the students to respect and take care of grandparents to become heroes by serving them and others.
The prize winners received certificates for the competition held in view of the feast. The chief guest and the correspondent honoured the winners.
