London, Jun 7: Konkani Kutam London, headed by Matilda D’Souza and four enthusiastic team members comprising Melwin Rodrigues, Ceaser Fernandes, Santhosh D’Souza and Lloyd D’Sa put up tremendous efforts in organising ‘Konkan Dabazo’, the musical concert hosting renowned stars from the Konkani music world who performed on a single platform in London at Harrow Arts Centre.
The audiences were mesmerized by a nonstop entertainment for 5 hours through most popular Konkani songs, skits and mind blowing compering. There was a roaring response by the audience to the whole event and proved that there is a great future for Konkani in the United Kingdom.
The main sponsors of the show were Aloysius Richard Lobo, managing director and CEO of British Asia and Lobo Seafood & Poultry Ltd, London and Martin J Aranha, managing director and CEO of Seamark Shipping LLC, Dubai.
Pramila Crasta, Arun Crasta, Vincent Pinto, Flora Fernandes, Sunil D’Souza and Robin Rodrigues worked as a team of volunteers before the start of the event who offered their helping hand on the day with the distributions of passes at the entrance.
The show started with a short stage programme led by John Fernandes.
The inauguration of the ceremony was done by chief guest Aloysius Richard Lobo and Christine Lobo by lighting of candles.
The curtains were raised with the theme song ‘Dabazo’ composed and led by Melwyn Peris.
'Sangeeth Samrat' Henry D’Souza mesmerized the audience with his most popular songs ‘Ye Ye Katrina’, ‘Ami Dogi Sezara’, ‘Chondrem Udevn Ailo’, ‘Kalzanth Ullas Borla’ and the audiences were unstoppable who even jumped on to the stage and started dancing to his tunes. 'Yodelling King' Melwyn Peris added a unique flavour to the programme through his wonderful presentation of ‘Jane’, ‘Sobith Xoli’ (Chakka), and ‘Soro Khaiso’.
Francis Roy, Prajoth D’Sa, Kevin Misquith, Jeevan Vas, Ancita D’Souza, Praveen Costa and Asha Correa mesmerized the audience with their melodious voices.
Great songs like ‘Tujo Mog Maka Zala’, ‘Kenna Kenna’, ‘Mariola’, ‘Udi Udi’, ‘Kalza Thar’, ‘Anjelina’ etc swayed the audiences into a magical music world. ‘Konkan Kalakaran’ song composed by Melwyn Peris was presented by all artistes at the end. Jolly Boys Band from UK was the main reason to keep the audience busy with their foot tapping music. The entertaining music band group was appreciated by everyone for the amazing music that was provided for the famous Konkani songs.
Ace anchor Dony Correa who was invited all the way from Dubai, energized the whole spectators by his witty humour, awesome stage presentation and excellent command over Konkani. He kept the audience engaged with his unique style and commanding voice and proved, why he was the most sought-after compere these days. The audience was kept engaged in the whole programme by Dony and he did not leave a stone unturned to make this event a grand success. There was a huge roaring response from the audience for Dony Correa. His energy and echoing voice created waves of joy in the hall.
Konkani Kutam London has proved their love towards Konkani by organizing a lot of high profile events for Konkani speaking people in the past years. The credit of getting legendary singers and young talents under one roof this time exclusively goes to Konkani Kutam London. This was another great event in London for Mangalurean families as audiences did not move till the end of the show and wanted more.
Local teams performed hilarious skits and entertained the audience. An amazing team of UK Konkans and MUKA performed the skits.
During a brief stage programme just after the interval, Henry D’Souza was honoured with the 2019 Lifetime Achievement Award for his outstanding contribution and dedication to the Konkani music industry,
Melwyn Peris was honoured with the 2019 Sangeeth Gharacho Sangeethghar Award for his outstanding contribution and dedication to the Konkani music industry.
Aloysius Richard Lobo was awarded the Londoncho Konkan Veer for his dedication, professionalism and excellence in business. Konkani Kutam London is grateful to him for his vital contributions to most of Mangalurean community members in the United Kingdom.
Matilda D’Souza, Tom D’Souza and Thomas D’Souza gave a brief speech on the achievements of the awardees respectively.
All the artistes and presidents of various Mangalurean organisations were presented with a bouquet as gift of appreciation.
After the felicitation, the artistes continued to entertain the audience with famous songs, which made the audience dance to the tunes and enjoy to the fullest during the programme. The stage turned out to be a dance floor while the audience rushed and jumped in joy during the show.
Konkani Kutam London did an exceptional job by organising one of the greatest events that was enjoyed thoroughly by each one who attended it.
