Mangaluru, Jun 7: As per latest updates, it is learned that Anjana Vasista (22), whose body was found at a house in Attavar, had come there on June 2 along with a young man who took room for rent for a short term.
The young man had said that he had come to Mangaluru to write a competitive exam. When asked about the girl, he informed that she was his wife. The landlord believed in him as the couple looked decent and he agreed to give the house on rent.
On the morning of June 7, the day of her death, Anjana went out and returned with some grocery. But in the evening she was found murdered and her companion went absconding.
It is also gathered that Anjana’s debit card was used and an amount of Rs 15,000 was withdrawn from two ATMs on June 7 afternoon.
The police have launched manhunt for the young man whose identity is yet to be revealed.

Mangaluru: Body of 22-year-old girl found, murder suspected
Dead body of girl was found in a house at Attavar in city on Friday, June 7.
The deceased is identified as Anjana Vasista (22) , daughter of Manjunatha Y N from Tarikere near Chikkamagaluru.
Anjana stayed with a young man in a rented house in Attavar.
It is suspected that Anjana was killed by unknown people as her neck was found trapped on the rod of the cot.
Anjana was identified based on the Aadhaar card she carried.
Police are investigating the case.
